D'Addario EJ11 Light Gauge Acoustic Guitar Strings.

D'Addario's best selling 80/20 Bronze gauge, EJ11s offer the ideal balance of volume, projection and comfortable playability.

80/20 Bronze, commonly referred to as brass, is the original acoustic string alloy selected by John D'Addario Sr. and John D'Angelico in the 1930s. 80/20 Bronze strings are popular for recording due to their crisp, deep and projecting tone and appeal to many traditionalists and vintage enthusiasts for their historical significance. All D'Addario acoustic strings are wound on a hexagonally shaped, high carbon steel core, resulting in long lasting, bright sounding tone with excellent intonation.

  • D'Addario's most popular acoustic gauge, ideal balance of tone and playability
  • Extra-bright tone mixed with deep and projecting bottom end
  • Environmentally friendly, corrosion resistant packaging for strings that are always fresh
  • Made in the U.S.A. for the highest quality and performance
  • String Gauges: Plain Steel .012, .016, Bronze Wound .024, .032, .042, .053

I play rhythm guitar in a band every Friday night and I have played a Gibson J-185TV rigged with Phosphor Bronze EJ-16's for many years. Recently I got an older Larrivee LCJ-05 which I consider a true jumbo sized guitar in that it has a 17 inch lower bout. This guitar has mahogany back and sides and came to me rigged with Martin Retro strings which I use on a couple of my smaller guitars. Right away I realized why Gibson predominantly uses maple back and sides on their super jumbo guitars as these bigger guitars sound really muddy with almost any other wood. This was the case with my Larrivee and while I like the woodiness of the Retros on a lot of instruments I consider jumbos to be the tool for driving rhythm in a band setting and to do that there has to be cut to the sound or you're just going to get lost in the mix. So I ordered a couple of sets of these EJ-11 80/20 strings to try out and within fifteen minutes of playing I knew I had found the strings that this guitar needed to do its job. The brighter tone of these strings paired perfectly with the mahogany in this big guitar and the resulting balance cuts just like my maple J-185. I couldn't be happier with the results and Pitbull's price and fast delivery make these strings a real bargain. So if you have a big jumbo out of mahogany or rosewood you might want to give these a try. (Posted on 3/6/2018)

I have always used EJ16s but these sound better to my ears. The EJ11 set aren't as bright but they have a nice tone right out of the box. Pitbull Audio had the best price. I'm glad I bought here. Know that I know I wouldn't buy from anywhere else. It's obvious that Pitbull cares about their customers. (Posted on 5/12/2016)
