The MAZ 38 is one of Dr Z’s most enduring designs.  It is the perfect combination of sound and power.  4 EL84s with no negative feedback give you a wide pallet to work from.  The 38 has enough clean headroom to make for a great pedal platform and gives up the goods for a great drive sound at reasonable levels.  The 38 can satisfy many different styles and playing approaches.  You are able to dial in mid 60s blackface sounds as well as UK flavored chime.  The Dr. Z MAZ 38 is a truly versatile amp for the working or studio musician. Whether your forte’ is Blues, Country, Roots, or Rock, The MAZ 38 will fit the bill.

The front panel features Volume, Treble, Middle, Bass, Reverb, Cut, and Master. The back panel features a 4,8, and 16 ohm speaker out. An effects loop and our EQ bypass function is also standard.  The footswitchable EQ bypass gives a great lead boost which effectively makes the 38 a 2 channel amp. The 38 is powered by a quartet of cathode biased EL84s and a 5AR4 rectifier.

The MAZ 38 has become a classic amplifier renown for it’s powerful voicing, enough to hold it’s own on any stage, barroom to stadium. Over the year, Dr. Z has listened to his customers and has updated the MAZ 38 to the new, even more versatile Mk.II designation. This includes:

• New, versatile voicing providing pristine American cleans, chiming British overdrive, and juicy hard rock crunch in one package.
• Specifically tuned post-phase inverter master volume allows you dial in your tone at any volume, down to whisper quiet.
• Ultra-light cabinet made from imported Italian poplar (2×12 not included).
• Improved spring reverb for subtle richness or splashy surf tones.
• Buffered effects loop for seamless, transparent integration with your pedalboard.
• Variable boost footswitch is included, providing anywhere from a small bump in volume to all-out, singing distortion.

Dr. Z Backline 2x12 Cab, Red - Celestion H30/V30 Speakers

Our ‘Backline’ 2×12 convertible cab utilizes the classic floating baffle design found on the great amps of the 1950’s. The entire front of the cabinet comes alive to deliver an outstanding wall of sound. The ‘Backline’ 2×12 cab is like getting 2 speaker cabs for the price of one. We offer a removable rear panel which enables closed-back or open-back operation. Big sound awaits and this cab can handle any head you put on it. Our suggested speaker configuration is a Celestion Vintage 30 and H30, other options are available upon request.
