Ernie Ball Music Man BFR Cutlass Nitro Classic '58 Guitar, Maple Fretboard, '58 Burst
Here's another beautiful piece from the Ball Family Reserve, the most prestigious and exclusive collection of instruments from our friends at Ernie Ball Music Man - this gorgeous Cutlass Nitro Classic '58! A celebration of the heritage of the electric guitar (and former Music Man president Leo Fender's in particular, if that wasn't already obvious!), this vintage-flavored piece is limited to just 100 serials worldwide.
Right off the bat, Music Man clearly did their homework when it comes to tradition - the '58 Burst finish on this model is the most perfect late-50s, early-60s 3-tone sunburst finish, with just the right amount of red and thickness of the black perimeter. '58 was one of the best years for the maple-boarded vintage "S"-style guitar, and everything down to the 1-ply pickguard and lightly aged pickup covers and knobs absolutely nails the look.
Tonally, the roasted alder body pairs nicely with the roasted maple neck to deliver a highly resonant guitar that punches through with tons of sustain, just like the best originals did. The fully-roasted tonewood choice keeps the weight down, as well - this one's just a hair over 7 lbs! Electronically, this guitar sports a classic wiring setup flanked by phenomenal custom-wound 50s-style single-coils that have all the vintage S-style chime and bell tones you can ask for. The quack in the 2 and 4 positions is to die for! The modern Music Man features like the ultra-stable two-point tremolo wrap the package up and make this axe truly a force to be reckoned with.
This exclusive BFR guitar won't last long, so get your hands on it while you can!
The modern electric guitar has a rich history, rooted in the 20th century's "Golden Era" of instrument manufacturing. During this time, guitar manufacturing pioneers produced iconic solid body concepts, resulting in some of the world's most beloved designs. These techniques have garnered acclaim and appeal from guitar enthusiasts worldwide, paving the way for modern innovations. The Cutlass Classic Fifty-Eight celebrates this classic period with vintage-inspired specifications, including a 3-tone Sunburst finish, roasted alder body, and roasted maple neck. Nitrocellulose lacquer is thinly applied to protect the exquisite burst finish, while the electronics showcase three vintage single-coil pickups controlled by a 5-way switch with volume and separate tone controls. The Cutlass Classic 58 is a classic vintage-inspired instrument that offers a nostalgic vibe with modern touches for reliability and playability. Limited to 100, each guitar comes with a custom G&G hardshell case and a numbered certificate of authenticity.
