Meinl Percussion CAJ1SNT-M Modern Snare Cajon, White Ash Frontplate
These Meinl snare cajons feature a fully adjustable internal set of snare wires that brush against the inside of the playing surface to deliver a crisp snare effect when playing. This can be very useful in achieving a musical sound that enhances bass notes and gives corner hits extra snap. Simply adjusting the amount of pressure the snares have on the frontplate by turning the knob conveniently located on the side opens up the sound options and varies the sensitivity of the cajon. Slightly tighter snares are great for playing soft finger rolls with ultra-sensitive response. The American White Ash frontplate and Rubber Wood resonating body come together to develop a deep, resonating bass tone that provides slight punches behind soft notes and deep swells behind harder playing, responding much like a kick drum. This instrument is ideal for softer acoustic gigs when a full drum kit cannot be used. Its portability as well as its musicality make it easy for musicians to pick up and play without hassle.
The snares touch the frontplate from the inside and deliver the classical cajon sound, which is requisite in Flamenco music. A knurled knob adjusts the amount of pressure used to press the snare wires against the frontplate. The rattle effect ranges between light and sensitive to very loud can be achieved through adjustment. The entire snare unit can even be turned off completely.
