Player's Perspective

Every single one of the guitars that we've received from the Anderson shop has left everyone in our store speechless, and here's yet another masterpiece from Tom and friends - this stunning Cobra S! We adore these guitars and their surf fade finishes are always eye-catching.

With a veritable who's who of guitar players on their roster, it's easy to see why Anderson Guitars have become so highly sought after for pros and hobbyists alike. A brief glance of Anderson's endorsees includes names like Bob Seger, David Crosby, Dierks Bentley, Kirk Hammett, Keith Richards, Richie Sambora, Neal Schon, Vernon Reid, Tim Pierce, and the list goes on and on and on. Simply put, Tom Anderson and his crew are cranking out some of the most amazing guitars on the planet right now.

This Cobra is a sophisticated instrument that can appeal to old-school players, modern-day shredders, and just about anyone in between that likes double-cutaway guitars. The HF & SC pickups have a bit of a modern voicing to them and can absolutely rock, while still being able to provide good clean tones, as well. There's some solid power and oomph coming out of this guitar to allow you to get as mean and dirty as you might like. The humbuckers can also be split and the 3rd position pickup selector can be toggled between neck + bridge or soloing the middle single-coil pickup. No more switching between guitars throughout your setlist. There are so many usable sounds in this guitar, and it's all very simple and intuitive to work with, too.

The neck is simply divine and the playability of this guitar is immaculate. It's got a slightly more vintage feel to it and will be perfect for anyone that doesn't like paper-thin necks but also doesn't want to feel like they're playing a baseball bat either. The shorter scale length is really fun, and gives the strings a wonderfully slinky feel akin to a vintage 24.75" set-neck guitar that is great under your fingers.

Once again the crew over at Tom Anderson Guitarworks have absolutely hit it out of the park. This guitar is as fun to play as it is to look at!

Details

Cobra and Coba S have been an Anderson favorite for a long time now.  In 1996, Cobra S took its rightful place alongside the renown Cobra, to add the same Cobra crush to the "S" body style. Taking over the (musical) world with an "S" just got a lot easier.

Cobra S is:

  • Short Scale - 24 3/4-inch strings length. Focused mids, easier reaching and bending.
  • Mahogany Construction: a powerful mahogany foundation of body and neck backs up all Cobra S has to say with midrange muscle
  • Sleek and svelte, no pickguard "S" delineation.

Uncover the secrets of our HC pickup line and what is revealed is the HF-Series—essentially uncovered HCs. Uncovering bestows just a touch of soft, super-musical articulation that is never, ever intrusive—another dimension added. Mild to medium to hot output, HFs sing with a wonderful vintage-flavored voice, depicted by focused midrange energy and enlightened by extremely musical upper-mids and seasoned with sweet, soft and soothing highs.

HF1: To match and swap stories with the HF2 in the bridge position, this is the pickup. Not too hot and not too cold but just the perfect balance for throaty neck humbucker tones that can speak expressively.
HF3: Extra saturation with creamy and more forceful output while still staying true to the vintage roots that the HF2 lays out.

The most musical S-size single-coil, hum-cancelling pickups. Everyone loves the SF, a real breakthrough. Even richer than real vintage coils, with equal effervescence highlighted by sweet, soft and lush highs. Pairs well with our humbuckers in the SSH configuration.

SF2: Hot single-coil sound, hum-canceling. Great for hotter neck and middle applications.
