We're proud to present another gorgeous Duvell Elite 7 from our friends over at Mayones! This one's in a stunning Trans Dirty-Red Satine finish, which looks stunning on the 3A Eye Poplar top.
Offering some of the highest quality craftsmanship we've ever come across, Mayones is building some absolutely killer guitars that have players of all genres taking note, not just metalheads. The neck on this 7-string is super comfortable and will require little-to-no adjustment if you're a 6-string slinger.
The low-B is tight, punchy, and really brings the thunder. It doesn't have any of that wobbliness that you can sometimes encounter. Flying up and down the neck is a breeze and whether you're playing chords, ripping lead-lines, or using both hands to do some fancy fretboard tapping, you'll find this guitar to be incredibly expressive and the notes to just jump right out with minimal effort.
The custom-wound, Mayones-exclusive Bare Knuckle TKO 7 pickup set, while designed for high-gain chug, surprised the players here at the shop with their awesome clarity on clean settings, especially with the coil-split on the volume control. Of course, the TKOs excelled the most at distorted riffage, and we were very pleased with how both single notes and chords sounded huge without getting muddy.
A simple master volume control (with push/pull coil-splitting capability) makes this a no-fuss 7-string shredder's axe that always sounds great and won't leave you with any hand fatigue after long sessions or shows.
Mayones guitars and basses are hand-crafted in Poland using traditional European luthier techniques and the finest components available. Professional musicians worldwide depend on their Mayones to provide stunning sound and consistent playability night after night. Mayones artists include Between The Buried And Me, Korn, Katatonia, Limp Bizkit, Paradise Lost, Keith Merrow, Periphery, Jimmy Haslip and many more.
The Bare Knuckle TKO pickups are specifically designed for Mayones. They are high output and each set is custom wound for the specific model that it's going into. Bare Knuckle decided to use a combination of ceramic powered bridge humbucker and Alnico V powered neck humbucker. This produces an excellent combination of power and range of tone, producing 3 very distinct tones from bridge, bridge/neck and neck selections on the pickup selector. Mayones guitars are extremely resonant due to the choice of premium timbers and construction methods and it was important that the pickups capitalised on this naturally rich, percussive tone. The ‘TKO’ bridge has plenty of output, bass notes track very quickly, mid range is punchy and highs sound full with plenty of weight behind each note. Neck tones are clean and open with a woody snap and great balance of output with the bridge. Mid position split coil tone is very tight and percussive with a very clear cut in the highs.
Overall the ‘TKO’ humbuckers offer a wide range of saturated rhythm and lead tones coupled with dynamic cleans perfect for modern rock guitar styles and they’re the ultimate partner for Mayones Guitars.” – Tim Mills (Bare Knuckle)
