This beauty celebrates another collaboration between the incredibly talented Italian bassist Federico Malaman and the incredible luthiers in Poland. The MalaMan bass sports a P pickup in the neck position, and an MM-style humbucker in the bridge position. Its tone and feature set is definitely a winner for any gigging musician needing versatility and comfort.

Each of Federico's signature basses have a distinctly different pickup configuration, and with that is going to come distinctly different tones off the beaten path of the average P or J bass. The P pickup gives you a nice, full, round, and wooly sound. The MM pickup in the bridge gives a lot of bark and punchiness that tightens it all up. And if you did want something more traditional, you can also split the bridge humbucker for a more traditional P/J vibe. You can also run it in parallel for a tone that's going to be more reminiscent of a SR-style bass. But, personally, we think it sounds awesome at full power in series mode where the humbucker is just hitting like a sledgehammer with loads of bottom end. The three different voices for the humbucker gives you a bunch of tone-shaping options without even touching the 3-band EQ on the bass.

The neck is fast, thin, and flat. It feels awesome, and the overall construction, especially the fretwork, is extremely precise. This allows for the bass to achieve crazy low action. A specially-contoured neck heel for easy upper-fret access, absolutely expert craftsmanship, and overall meticulous attention to detail help make this one of the best boutique 5-string basses on the market!
