Feast your eyes on one of the most gorgeous PRS guitars in the Core catalogue - the McCarty 594 Hollowbody II! This one's in clean and classic Antique White. It brings together the best of two of PRS' definitive models - the Hollowbody II and the vintage-inspired McCarty 594.
Although the foundation of this instrument is the Hollowbody, this incredible "fusion" of two iconic models starts with the 594. While it has never been particularly difficult for Paul Reed Smith to make lifelong converts out of guitar players, many fans of the iconic 24.75" singlecut-style guitar were left clamoring for something that has that PRS quality and tone but with the slinky feel they are used to out of their guitars with the shorter scale length. Being the ever-ingenuitive designer that he is, Paul Reed Smith has hit the nail on the head with the 594.
Aside from the distinct 24.594" scale length, another aspect brought over from the 594 is the Pattern Vintage neck, a relatively new vintage-inspired profile that will feel very familiar and comfortable for anyone that has played one of the PRS Pattern necks. It's similar, but is slightly thicker from front to back and has an asymmetrical carve that feels very ergonomic while providing massive tone and sustain.
Tonewise, the 594 Hollowbody II is not dissimilar from the base Hollowbody. The hollowbody construction of this guitar "hollows" out the mid-range for an airier voice that also manage to be rounder, sweeter, and warmer than its fully solid-body or semi-hollow counterparts. It also mellows out the treble frequencies and fullness to all of your notes while keeping the instrument nice and lightweight. Pickup-wise, the vintage-voiced 58/15LT pickups provide excellent warmth when playing clean and enough output and mid-range to keep your tone distinct and articulate when using distortion.
The McCarty 594 Hollowbody II brings a new set of features to one of our most beloved models – the Hollowbody II. With fully-hollow build construction, the Hollowbody II is a resonant guitar with warm, woody tone. 58/15 LT pickups ensure that these guitars are clear and musical, and dual volume and push-pull tone controls offer plenty of versatility. The details taken from the McCarty 594 model impart old-school character to this already classic instrument. Those details include a 24.594” scale length, two-piece bridge, and Pattern Vintage neck shape. The McCarty 594 Hollowbody II is a true showstopper with effortless playability, articulate vintage tone, and a jaw-dropping aesthetic.
The Pattern Vintage neck has the same width measurements as PRS's Pattern neck but is slightly thicker front to back and features an asymmetrical carve with a little less meat on the bass side of the neck toward the nut end and a little less meat on the treble side of the neck from the twelfth fret to the heel.
