PLAYER'S PERSPECTIVE
We get a lot of amazing Fender Custom Shop guitars and basses in at the shop, and it's hard not to get desensitized. So when we truly get "wowed" by one, we really mean it. This limited-edition 1959 P-Bass in an aged Ice Blue Metallic Journeyman Relic is truly something special!
Looks-wise, it immediately brings the vibes of the mid-to-late 60s with a bound fretboard, round-laminate rosewood, and a matching headstock to go along with a tasteful tortoiseshell pickguard. The block inlays also add another level of class to the bass.
But this killer instrument isn't just looks - discerning bassists will immediately notice this axe has a Jazz Bass headstock shape, nut width, and neck profile! The '60 J-Bass "U" neck shape is extremely comfortable and familiar-feeling, and many bassists here at the shop prefer the feel of a J neck. With this bass, you truly get the best of both worlds.
The hand-wound pickup set is just stellar. The '65-'70 P-Bass pickup has a ton of thump and low-mid power on tap, and the '75 J-Bass bridge cuts through in the mix and dishes out a distinct high-end clarity perfect for funk. We love how this bass combines the best of Fender's best vintage eras along with modern improvements. From the '59 "P" foundation to the '60s Jazz playing feel, late '60s-style P & J pickups, as well as the special Fender RSD Hi-Mass bridge and HB-2 tuners, this bass is truly a custom work of art.
You know you're getting a special instrument in your hands any time you pick up something built by Fender's Custom Shop team, and this bass is sure to not only meet but exceed your expectations!
