There's never any question as to the quality of the instrument you're getting when you get any PRS guitar, but there's something magical with these Private Stock instruments. They're simply unlike any other PRS guitar out there. For this one, we started with a DGT model, the signature axe of longtime PRS artist David Grissom, and chose a gorgeous Aqua Violet Glow finish.

Immediately opening the Private Stock hardshell case, you'll see the gorgeous, hand-selected quilted maple topped with the hand-stained Aqua Violet Glow, and a beautiful slab of Brazilian rosewood for the fretboard and the veneer on the headstock. We figured that with all the top-end clarity and midrange balance that the stunning Black Limba body back and neck would add to the unplugged voice of the guitar, getting that warmth from Brazilian rosewood as well as the upper mid-range presence that it provides would round out the tone of the guitar really nicely. And, if all that wasn't enough, check out the stunning Paua bird inlay work - simply phenomenal.

The exclusive DGT pickups are simply awe-inspiring. They have a certain reputation in PRS fan circles as being perhaps the best vintage-style humbucker pickups in the PRS lineup - clean or distorted, these have a very distinct dynamic responsiveness and clarity that nails the exact feel, punch, and drive of a good vintage humbucker instrument. Vintage warmth, crisp high-end, responsive mids and rounded out lows all come singing out of this instrument with ease. It is both fast and luxuriously comfortable to play, and the tremolo system performs effortlessly and reliably.

This guitar covers a ton of ground and will make a terrific companion on stage or in the studio - you'll probably see this model on social media as the go-to guitar of a ton of session players. The DGT (David Grissom Trem) is the result of more than 20 years of collaboration between Paul Reed Smith and David Grissom. The DGT is based on the McCarty platform with a unique DGT neck shape, taller frets, specially-voiced pickups, and a revised control layout. Grissom and Paul spent a year A/B-ing more than forty sets of pickups before nailing the vintage-voice of DGT humbuckers. When paired with individual volume controls for each pickup and a push/pull master tone control that operates the coil taps, DGT pickups provide versatility and articulation.
