We've always been huge fans of Seymour Duncan’s “Phat Cat” set, which faithfully captures the tone of classic P90 pickups in a humbucker-sized housing. We decided to ask their Custom Shop to take things one step further and incorporate their new "Silencer" technology to capture that same tone without the hum! We seriously love how these came out, and are stoked to be able to make these available.
Don't be misled by the higher DC Resistance ratings than a typical set - that's just a reflection of the noiseless wind. These are unmistakably vintage in output and tonality, and have all of the distinct P90 midrange warmth, bite, and attack. Now, that sound can be had in your humbucker-equipped axe in a noiseless format!
As with every Duncan Custom Shop creation, each pickup is hand-wound by one of their renowned winders with tried-and-true quality materials and specs. These just happened to be personally crafted by the legendary Maricela "MJ" Juarez, as well!
