Martin's 15 series guitars are some of our favorite acoustic instruments. It's easy to see why: These guitars have classic Martin tone, styling, and quality.
That said, they're just different enough to make them really special, and this new StreetMaster finish really solidifies its uniqueness. All 15 series guitars have solid mahogany tops. Martin introduced this design during World War II when spruce was hard to come by, and it turns out mahogany thrives as a top wood and provides a very balanced natural EQ. It has great projection and clarity but is also a touch warmer and more even across the EQ spectrum than spruce.
Fingerpickers will certainly dig the natural balance between the lows and highs, and strummers will appreciate the way that simple open-position chords blend together. Recording is a breeze with these guitars as well - you won't get as many weird EQ spikes in certain places. The 000 body style is comfortable and sleek, the neck is comfortable and the worn satin finish is very easy on the eyes.
This is a very cool, useful, and playable guitar.
Martin Guitar has expanded their popular solid mahogany 15 Series with a respectful nod to the working musician. The 000-15M StreetMaster® model is built to the same specifications as the 000-15M model but Martin has added a beautifully distressed satin finish.
