Here's another absolutely stunning Mayones Aquila Elite S! Finished in a beautiful Transparent Jeans Blue Gloss, this is a double-humbucker version of the Aquila that Mayones released in 2020. The new pickguard-less design shows off that gorgeous 4A quilt maple top very nicely.

The build quality is every bit what we've come to expect from Mayones - masterful from top to bottom. The fretwork is incredible, and the recessed Gotoh 510 tremolo allows for freakishly low action and a smooth response. The wenge neck feels silky-smooth, and the ebony fretboard adds some nice brightness to the acoustic voice of the guitar. The neck is super-fast to maneuver on, but is also not paper-thin. It has a bit of a more traditional C-shaped neck than many of Mayones' shred-oriented builds.

For this model, Mayones favors the wonderful Lollar Imperial Low-Wind humbucker set. These are a bit lower output than what you may have come to except from Mayones - sitting closer to a "PAF"-style pickup - but are an awesome fit with the scale length and tonewood selection. They're bright, clear, articulate, and crystalline with a shot of vintage vibe and response in the pick attack.

There's finally a Mayones offering for guitarists that prefer a tone that harkens back to yesteryear. That said, this is definitely not your father's S-style guitar - it's even better. If you want to get dirty with it, it can do that. If you want to clean it up, it'll handle that as well.
