We're stoked to get in another beautiful new Custom 24 from our friends at PRS! The Custom 24 is "the" PRS guitar, and the new model is just as fantastic as ever.

The majority of Custom 24s these days are coming with 85/15 TCI pickups, and for good reason. These are a faithful evolution of the pickups that put Paul Reed Smith on the map, but now they come TCI-tuned, which, long story short, makes them even better than they were before! They sit in a just slightly-hotter-than-vintage level of output to cover that base if that's what you need, but can also more than handle their own in more modern settings as well. They handle saturation and distortion with grace and ease. The Pattern Thin neck shape is lightning fast to maneuver around on, and definitely allows for some effortless fast runs while not feeling like a toothpick in your hands.

Also new for 2024, the Phase III tuners have been refreshed with newly-designed "Wing" buttons for nicer cohesion with the bird motif, as well as less weight on the headstock for increased sustain and resonance. We love the classy vibe they add!

There's a very real thing that can happen when you pick up a guitar that is just so inspiring that it makes you a better player by not only being easier to play, but also by giving you more motivation to pick it up and play it every chance you get. The PRS Custom 24 is one of those instruments!

The One That Started It All

The Custom 24 is the quintessential PRS guitar. This iconic instrument was the first model that Paul Reed Smith brought to the public at PRS Guitars’ first Winter NAMM show in 1985 and has been a top seller ever since. Played by internationally touring artists, gigging musicians, and aspiring players, the Custom 24 features PRS’s patented Gen III tremolo system and PRS 85/15 pickups with volume and tone controls and a 5-way blade switch. 85/15 pickups were personally designed by Paul Reed Smith to offer remarkable clarity and extended high and low end.

The Custom 24 is the original PRS. Since its introduction, it has offered a unique tonal option for serious players and defined PRS tone and playability.

For 2024, PRS Guitars is updating the tuning machines on many of our Core guitars. While, aesthetically, our new Wing buttons are designed to echo the 12th fret bird wingspan design, they were first and foremost designed for tonal reasons all the way back in 1982. Because these buttons are lighter weight than their metal predecessors, they are subtracting less energy from the vibrating strings, thus helping the guitar ring longer and at a more musical note.
