Pete Thorn's original signature guitar is a fantastic instrument that combines the best of the modern-leaning Suhr Standard platform with a distinctively vintage vibe fueled by Pete Thorn's signature Thornbucker pickups and "50s-style set neck" looks.

The Thornbuckers are a great representation of the PAF tone that, for most, is considered the holy grail of vintage humbucker sounds. The Thornbucker+ in the bridge adds a slightly more aggressive and overwound characteristic to that traditional sound to make it more usable with higher gain applications. Like the guitar overall, the pickups are a great combination of vintage inspiration with modern design. You can really dabble in some nice traditional vintage tones. It's definitely not a one-trick shredding or hard-rock pony. Though you can easily saturate the heck out of this tone and you won't lose note definition or articulation, you can also get some beautiful crystal clear clean tones and even some slightly overdriven bluesy sounds.

The neck has a bit more of a substantial shape to it and is more reminiscent of days when a guitar neck gave you something really solid to hold onto. The Wilkinson bridge will guarantee that you can wail away on the trem as much as you want and your intonation will remain spot on. The tonewood choices, hardware choices, and electronics all pair together so well on paper. Plugging the guitar in only reaffirms what a perfect combination this is, in reality!

Item Specifics

Prolific guitar sideman Pete Thorn has been a Suhr artist for over 10 years, and has previously partnered with Suhr to design and produce his signature PT100 amplifier and Thornbucker pickups. The guitar is based off of a custom spec Suhr Standard model that Pete has used extensively in the studio and on tour for the last two years. It’s equipped with Thornbucker pickups mounted in pickup rings, which is unique among Suhr guitars, and a super comfortable and fast Even C Slim neck. This guitar is designed to be a sleek, versatile tone machine with a stunning yet understated look that exudes class and rock and roll attitude.

The Pete Thorn Signature guitar features a Mahogany neck with an Indian Rosewood fingerboard. The neck is finished with satin acrylic urethane, which provides the smooth feel of natural wood as well as protection from moisture. Pete’s Standard is equipped with the Even C Slim profile. Rolled edges and a 10-14” compound fingerboard radius offers a substantial, yet comfortable shape.
