Player's Perspective

You know you're doing something right if you've been selected by Garth Brooks to be the company that gets to build his signature acoustic guitar! The folks over at Takamine have had no shortage of big name endorsees spanning a multitude of genres. Toby Keith, Garth Brooks, and Kenny Chesney, in the country world, all have Takamine signatures. But Jerry Garcia also used to play a Takamine, as did Glenn Frey.

But back to the topic at hand... This GB7C is a powerful beast of an acoustic. It's comfortably shaped, which isn't always the case with dreadnoughts, and extremely easy to play. The neck is very small and thin, likely designed to allow Garth to play for hours and hours on end with high energy without having to worry about left-hand cramping. It truly plays like a breeze.

The sound is thunderous and powerful with focused and responsive bass that is full of the fundamental note content that you need to keep from getting muddy. The highs are still classy and crisp but lack that "needle through your ear drum" feeling that can sometimes happen. The soft cedar top is dynamically responsive and reacts well to fingerstyle or harder pick playing. It's a very well balanced sound with a tiny bit of mid-scoop to allow your notes to be round and warm.

Details

The GB7C Garth Brooks signature model was designed as a collaboration between Takamine R&D and country legend Garth Brooks. This model matches a solid cedar top, finished in a silky smooth natural satin finish, to a solid rosewood back and features a unique soundhole that mirrors the shape of the guitar. Sonically, the guitar performs well in soft fingerstyle passages and aggressive strumming. The mahogany neck is joined to the body with a traditional, ultra strong dovetail joint. Includes Takamine's CT4B II preamp system paired with the unique Palathetic™ under-saddle pickup for peerless amplified response. The highly acclaimed CT4B II preamp system with three-band EQ, volume control and built-in tuner.
